Something Weird about Wii and PC gaming.?
here is something about Wii gaming and the developers attitude towards it that I just don’t understand.
For example,while Wii does have some good sales,most hardcore games don’t sell that well.We all know that.
However,the sales of Wii games are generally a bit higher then the sales of PC games.And yet,the PC,even with all of its piracy,still gets most multiplatform releases,while Wii is left in the dark.
I don’t understand why. If the games sell the same or better on wii,why don’t they release them for that platform?
The main problem with the Wii is that the hardware in it is not powerful enough to handle most of today’s most hardcore games. an example of a PC game, Crysis, This game has really good graphics and details. here’s the problem it needs a really good computer to play it with max graphics smoothly and the graphics cards needs to be powerful enough to play. Wii’s gpu is really unpowerful. The gpu works similar to those from Gamecube, PS2 and Xbox (last genereation consoles). Modern day games requires some of the latest shaders and and stuff which Wii doesn’t have. But when they do make a hardcore game on the Wii that is available on other systems, the Wii version is usually horrifying. It forces you to use motion controllers (most people hates that, especially the fps games which requires you to aim at the screen) and the graphics are usually quite bad. Because of that the games sells quite badly on the Wii so developers don’t like making games on the Wii. Also another reason why developers dislikes making games on Wii is again, the hardware, the weakness of the hardware also limits the way the developers make the game, if they want a high end game they can’t do it the way they want because of the Wii’s hardware limits. The games that people usually buy on the Wii are games that are made by Nintendo themselves or Sega as their games are the only ones that are good to play.
