I have a 80gb ps3 and I want to change the hard drive to bigger on.Will a 320gb or 500gb work in my ps3 ok?

Yes, as long as you use a SATA drive of the same size (2.5″) and its preferable to use 5400 rpm drives, which is the same as the PS3. You could go for 7200rpm, but the slightly faster speed won’t really net much benefit, and it will produce more heat, not something you really want to do. Go for a 2.5″ SATA 5400rpm drive, 320gb or 500gb will be fine, Western Digital or Seagate make them for example, and are avaliable on Amazon.

added – also make sure you have a decent screwdriver that fits perfectly in the screws holding the drive into its cage, as if you strip the interior of the screw, the only option them is to drill the screw out, again, not something you want to have to do! If you search youtube for “ps3 hard drive replacement” you will be able to watch several videos showing people doing it, again, thats what I did.
