P90 Exercise Program

What’s the difference between P90 and P90x?

I am thinking about starting one of these programs. I am not in shape, but I am certainly not out of shape. I want to lose about 15 pounds and get more toned. I have read that P90x can be pretty intense… especially for someone that is not currently exercising regularly. Should I start out with P90 for 90 days or should I just do P90x?

The X is for “extreme”.

Basically, P90 is supposedly more for beginners to intermediates and P90X is more for intermediates to advanced.

However, I was pretty much a beginner when I did P90X. Sure I had a hard time with some of the exercises, but P90X almost always provided a beginner version of the exercise. So I mostly did those. When I got pooped out before they did, I just rested.

After doing them for awhile, I got stronger and better.

So I recommend just getting P90X. Start off following the beginner model (Tony has three models: beginner, intermediate, and advanced) and rest when you need to. After a while, you’ll get strong enough to do the intermediate stuff.

And don’t worry about getting bored with the same tapes. You get so many of them, you can switch around to keep it exciting. Plus, Tony makes it so fun.

P90X are the best set of workout DVDs I own. It covers every angle of functional fitness out there (strength, flexibility, explosion, endurance, coordination), plus it has proper warmup and cooldown periods as well as a timeline (unlike other DVDs).
