Maximum Dumbbell Training – Does It Work?
Dumbbells have been around since the early ages of physical fitness. Workout fads have come and gone, but free weights and dumbbells have stood the test of time – which should tell you one thing… the dumbbell workout generally works. There is a reason that top athletes and military people use dumbbells and free weights when they work out.
I got a copy of the new workout program when it first hit the net and decided to give it a shot. I’m in decent shape. I play a few different sports in my free time, but I wouldn’t all myself a top conditioned athlete. I’m probably average size and strength is a little on the weak side. I’ve tried several different workout plans, including p90x, but it’s always been tough to stick with something.. either out of boredom or time constraints (p90x 6 days a week got to be too much). And rarely have I ever seen any mind blowing results. So I was very skeptical of the new maximum dumbbell workout by Ferguson.
What can this workout do for me?
The secret to this workout is the actual variety of exercises that you perform with the dumbbells. Not only are you strengthening your muscles, but the full range of motion is helping you to become more flexible and cut at at the same time. These selected workouts allowed me to become stronger but not put on much weight at all. Although I did pack on a little bit of muscle, it has mainly been lean, tight muscle, rather than bulky muscles – and the fat that I have lost has balanced out any muscle weight gain. My body is basically the same size, but just leaner and tighter looking.
What else is included in the download package?
The cool thing about this workout is that they give you the option to download the video files to you IPod or IPhone, so you can literally take this workout anywhere that you have access to your dumbbells. It worked out great for me when I was out of town for a week. As far as cost, I paid $90 for p90x. The workouts included in this video gave me just as good of a workout if not more enjoyable, and I only dropped $17. I think that speaks for itself. And I’m not knocking p90x, I thought it was a great workout, but just a little pricey for me when compared to the max dumbbell workout. For under 20 bucks, it’s worth a shot in my book.
