Iphone 4 In Australia
Do you have to pay a duty fee on the iphone 4 when getting it sent to Australia from Hong Kong?
My Aunty lives in Hong Kong, the iphone 4 is a fair amount cheaper over there and my aunty is going to send me one over. She was saying that she sent her friend something one time and then her friend got slapped with a big duty fee and I am wondering if I will get the same thing. I have heard that if you write gift on the packaging then you won’t get git with this.
My advice is: Don’t do it, it’s simply not worth it.
1. You won’t get any customer service, and you might lose your warranty
2. If you use Fedex, 9/10 times the package will be checked by the customs.
3. Even if you write “gift” on it, they’ll still charge you with the import tax IF they find out.
If you really want your Aunt to send the iPhone 4, I suggest you let a family member/friend who’s returning from HK carry the iPhone 4 with him.
