How to Fix PS3 Disc Error Problems
If your PS3 is unable to correctly read game or movie discs then it is likely you have a problem with the console’s internal Blu-Ray drive. In this article you are going to learn how to fix PS3 disc error problems as quickly and easily as possible so that you can get back to enjoying your favorite games and movies once again. With the right knowledge and info it really isn’t that hard to repair your PS3.
One of the most difficult problems to deal with on the PS3 platform is a disc drive error as the new generation Blu-Ray drive fitted to the console is an extremely complex piece of hardware. It is not particularly easy to work on, and to purchase a replacement drive is also very expensive. Sony will charge you $150 just to “have a look” at your drive, and there is no guarantee whatsoever that they will actually be able to fix anything. Instead, you are much better off to try and fix the PS3 disc error yourself.
When you experience errors with the disc drive on your PS3 the first port of call is to try and clean the drive lens. From time to time dirt and grime will build up on the lens and prevent it from reading discs correctly. In order to clean this you will need a lens cleaning kit, which can be purchased online, or from your local video games/electronics store. Follow the instructions on the packaging carefully to avoid damaging your disc drive further.
Secondly, you need to actually ensure that the discs you are using are in working order. If you have only tried one or two discs then borrow some off of friends, or use any other game/Blu-Ray discs you have lying about to see if it is just a problem with the specific disc. Keep your game and movie discs clean, and always store them in their cases to prevent scratching, which may prevent your PS3 from working properly.
If neither of these methods work then you will have to carry out more complex repairs to fix the disc error on your PS3. In order to do this you will need a PS3 repair guide eBook, which will contain all of the information and instructional material you require to be able to safely open up your console and fix the Blu-Ray drive. This method is much cheaper and faster than sending your console back to Sony, and most PS3 repair guides actually offer a guarantee that they will help you fix your console, unlike Sony.
