Buy Cheap Cell Phones Without Plans
Can I buy a prepaid phone to work with my current cell phone plan?
I am, of course, locked into a contract agreement and cannot upgrade my phone without spending an arm and a leg. I would like to get my husband a razr for Christmas. What are my options? My phone does NOT use a sim card. I’ve heard about buying prepaid phones..can I use that with a current plan? Or where is the cheapest to buy unlocked, or new verizon phones (other than ebay?)Thanks!
I believe the prepaid RAZR is actually a different version (V3C) than the V3M you would usually buy. I’m not sure how this would affect service on a postpay account, but the phone is especially made for prepaid service.
RAZRs aren’t actually THAT expensive anymore – I believe you can get one without a contract for about $200.
You also might want to try calling Customer Service to see what your options are – perhaps you have another line you can upgrade now and put the new phone on your husbands line?
